Helping families thrive
I had a shitty childhood: unhappy, confusing, and altogether abysmal. I was determined – really determined – that my children wouldn’t have the same. Filled with resolve and hope, I had two boys in under two years. But five years in, I realized the only tools I had were crying (not helpful when you live with two toddlers who also cry to solve problems), anger, and giving in. And while I didn’t believe myself to be a bad parent, I felt bad when I put my head on the pillow at night.
Thank my lucky stars, I found D.C.’s PEP (Parent Encouragement Program) Parenting Classes and I learned:
How to get out of the house in the morning without yelling
How to get my kids to pick up their clothes
What to do about sibling fighting
How to talk without sounding bossy or like a doormat so the kids would listen
As I journeyed into the deep to solve my own problems, I realized that family life is really a fun and fruitful place to learn, grow and, yes, THRIVE!
I took my great, unexpected passion and became a Certified Parent Educator in 2006 and have since trained over 1,000 parents.
Your wise, fun, and practical guide
Imagine I’m one of those friendly rangers at a National Park:
You can count on me to tell you what I know.
I’ll share stories of common places you might get lost or disoriented.
I’ll also point out where to look for unexpected visions of beauty and places to find joy and delight.
We’ll explore how to be as comfortable as possible while you are exerting yourself, working hard, and raising your family.
It can be a glorious journey, and while the focus is usually on your child’s growth and change, you will surprise yourself and grow and change also. With intention and awareness you will get to know yourself in a whole new way.
It’s nothing short of miraculous.
